A brand-new approach to ethical, comprehensive financial advice
LAUNCH OF CERTAINTY ADVICE STANDARDS
6:00pm - 7:30pm
Thursday 17th August 2017
We’re setting new standards for financial advice. Will you join us?
Is financial advice about products…or real advice?
Certainty Advice Group is on the way to gaining Australia's first certification mark for comprehensive and ethical financial advice: Certainty Advice.
Over decades in business working with Advisers serving the best interests of Australians, we've been frustrated with the lack of ethical advice standards required to build the trust and value of financial advice. Join us to find out:
- Why Australians will achieve more in their lives with greater awareness and access to ethical financial advice;
- How advisers who adhere to the incoming Certainty Advice standards are making real changes in the financial lives of their clients; and
- How an ethical advice standard is fundamentally re-shaping the growth, career opportunities, and approach for traditional roles of accounting, financial planning, finance, insurance, brokering and law.
Why new financial advice standards?
The financial advice industry as we know it was ‘born’ 25 years ago when Hawke's Labor government first introduced the product-centered superannuation guarantee. In the decades since then, many Australians still see the financial advice industry as a ‘provider of financial products’ rather than a ‘provider of quality financial advice’.
While Australia's professional accounting and financial planning associations have successfully forged technical compliance standards, they have been unsuccessful in setting professional standards that ethically separate financial products from comprehensive financial advice.
Through our advisory work with hundreds of financial advisory firms, we've seen how we can turn this conversation around – from products to genuine, independent advice. Setting new standards will help us get there.
What is the ‘Certainty Advice’ standard?
Certainty Advice Group has been working with ACCC and IP Australia for over a year to establish a set of advisory standards that are in the best interests of all Australians. Our proposed standard – called Certainty Advice – governs how Australians can expect to be engaged, managed, and priced when seeking comprehensive financial advice.
This standard ensures that advisors adhere to similar ethical approaches for clients whether they seek advice in Melbourne, Cairns, Perth, Newcastle or Adelaide. When this happens, Australians will be assured that their advisors are being assessed against an independent set of ethical standards.
